To the original poster, unless you have a huge mansion, its almost impossible to be too far for ethernet or you don't want to run cable through the house or drop it through the wall. But I have a feeling that wasn't what he had in mind. Cable modems are registered with Comcast and they will not allow a cable modem on the their network unless you register it which means pay for it on a monthly basis.
If you have 2 modems you pay twice. You can get a 2nd modem. I hooked it up on my computer and it worked. I am not a Comcast employee. Mark it as an accepted solution! The second would be connected in your room near your computer and must connect to a wired Ethernet port.

Message 5 of 5. Well I have recently just got my self my own personal computer in my room. Hope this sheds some light on what these companies are chasing after. If there is existing jack in the other room, it may not be connected and that might require access into a TWC locked box to add a splitter and POE filter to isolate the moca signals to your appartment only. Curious because when i moved in comcast had me wired to a downstairs room but my wife wanted it up stairs so they put in a splitter and i never used the original cable connection.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Just get a wireless N router and hook that baby up to the cable modem.
Re: Can I have more than one internet modem?
I purchased this product made by Adaptec for home in order to provide a wired ethernet connection for both my TiVo boxes that I use with my Time Warner Cable. The connection through the first modem may or may not continue to work, but if it does work at all, it will likely work badly.
TGG speed and connectivity issues. Cat5e typical and Cat6 can run up to m don't recommend the max, but thats quite a distance especially if you have a few routers to connect and link 90m would be a safer bet.
